Editorial policy

Emerald Knowledge publishes accessible explanations about knowledge, ideas and learning. We work to make each piece clear about what it says, how it reasons and where its account has limits.

Accuracy and clarity

Writers should check factual statements against dependable material suited to the subject and make the basis of important claims understandable to readers. We distinguish established information from interpretation, avoid overstating what an example can show and clarify terms that carry more than one meaning. Where a topic is contested or uncertain, the wording should reflect that.

Independence

Editorial choices are made for their relevance to the publication and readers. A commercial relationship does not determine our conclusions, and a partner cannot require favourable coverage or editorial control.

Corrections

We take reports of errors seriously. When a factual mistake or unclear passage is brought to our attention, we assess it and correct the material when warranted. Send the relevant page and a concise description through Contact so the issue can be reviewed.

Partnerships and labels

Paid placements, sponsored material and other partner contributions are identified clearly where they appear. Editorial articles remain distinct from commercial placements, and a partnership does not imply editorial endorsement.

A view of understanding

Understanding begins with careful attention

An explanation can open a subject without closing it. We make room for distinctions, connections and the questions that remain.
